The five things that set me apart from others and make up my human capital are:
1. First-hand knowledge and experience trading securities using my own money.
2. Persistence and discipline: Once I set my mind to something, I will put my 110% to make it happen. I will show up day in and day out, never giving up until I have reached my goal.
3. Intellectual curiosity: I have shown this throughout my whole life with my passion for Finance, weight-lifting, and business in general (Reading the series 7 book, SEO, wallstreetprep courses, continuous research of the markets and current economic news, hours of lifting content, weightlifting club, DECA, etc.)
4. Ability to enable others to act: Because lifting completely changed my life, I have made it my mission to push and motivate all of my friends to begin their fitness journey. Being able to motivate peers/co-workers, as well as influence clients to put their trust in the company is key.
5. Organized + Structured: I plan out my days in order to maintain optimal efficiency. Not only do I keep my living area clean/neat, I also maintain order when it comes to work. This is very beneficial in business, as you must be able to juggle a plethora of things, making sure to not lose track of anything.
Questions to ask:
1) What sets me apart from other people? Name three skills/abilities that I have.
2) What is my number one strength?
3) Do you think the strengths you have mentioned will help me succeed in business or as an Entrepreneur? If so, how come?
Recording of the five interviews I conducted:
Reflections- How do you see yourself, and how do others see you? Are there differences in how you assess yourself compared to others? What do you think causes these differences? Do you think your interviewees are correct about you? Finally, going back to your list from part 1, would you make any corrections to the list? How?
It seems that everyone I interviewed had similar things to say about me. All included my passion and dedication for the things I love (stocks and the gym). The only one that really stood out was creativity as I have never known myself as the creative type. I would not make any corrections to the list because everyone had the same style of answers as me. I believe the reason for this is because I am very expressive and outspoken about my passions so whenever someone thinks of me, that is what they remember.
Erick,
ReplyDeleteI think a lot of people dismiss the importance of keeping clean and neat home and work areas. I think this little nugget of discipline keeps my mind on track to be organized and focused on other things throughout my day. I admire you for developing a passion for weightlifting and healthy exercise early in life. That is an area I spend very little time on and will ultimately need to get in order before I get too old. Early experience in stocks can only be beneficial in my eyes.
Hi Erick!
ReplyDeleteI loved reading through your post! I think your comments, 2 and 5, are incredibly crucial human capital to have. Things don't always happen how we want, and doors don't still open when we need them. This is why persistence and discipline are essential factors to possess. Not many people dare to continue to give valiant effort when things aren't going their way; they just quit. I think this definitely sets you apart from the rest! I also agree that it is important to have structure and organization in some aspects of your routine. Organization and structure allow you to tackle even the most ambiguous situations. I think you identified two skills that are important to have, excellent job!
